2026 John Nix Award

The Worshipful Company of Farmers is delighted to announce the launch of this year's John Nix Award applications.

This annual award, together with a prize worth £1000, recognises excellence in rural business management and leadership and will be awarded by the Worshipful Company of Farmers, in association with The Andersons Centre. It is open to graduates of our flagship programmes - the Agricultural Business Management and Challenge of Rural Leadership - and new for 2026, those who have also completed Cranfield's Business Growth Programme and the full-time and part-time MBAs.

The John Nix Award wishes to hear from those delegates who have achieved success with their business since attending the course(s) and the impact the course(s) have had on their career. Those eligible for this year's award who have completed their course or programme at least 5 years ago (in essence, from 2021 or earlier).

You can nominate yourselves, or it might be preferable for your cohort to come together and put forward someone in their course year? Either way, please apply - details are attached.

Professor John Nix, who died in 2018, will be remembered by many as the doyen of agricultural business management in general and gross margins in particular. His practical, down-to-earth style won many farming hearts and minds, and his management pocketbook lives on as a worthy legacy.

Applications will close at 18:00 on 13th March 2026. Those shortlisted will be called for an interview (online or in person) in London on 2nd April 2026. The Award will be presented at the Livery Company's annual Agricultural Lecture and Dinner at Plaisterers' Hall in London on 21st April 2026. The application form for the 2026 award is attached.

On behalf of The Worshipful Company of Farmers and The Andersons Centre, we look forward to receiving your applications and to awarding the successful applicant in April.
